Description: This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:
- develop preliminary employability skills and knowledge at AQF level 1
- identify realistic education, employment or community engagement goals and appropriate training pathways
- participate in a formal, supported learning environment. 
Entry requirements: There are no essential entry requirements for this course. 
Learning pathways: 10582NAT Certificate l in Preparation for Work and Training provides pathways into:
• 10583NAT Certificate l in Access to Work and Training
• FSK10113 Certificate l in Access to Vocational Pathways.
There are no formalised articulation arrangements in place for this qualification. 
Career opportunities: This course is the first step in a series of courses to further training in employability skills and helps you go on to further training and to get a job.

About: This course is for learners who would like to learn basic computer skills for work, study, community engagement and personal use. Your class teacher will assist you to enrol online when the class starts or you may visit a local TAFE campus for assistance to enrol online.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 360 hours. This includes approximately 180 of face to face training. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Required student skills:
This is a Certificate I level course. Individuals undertaking this course will be required to undertake one or more of the activities listed above.

Recognition:
Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
