Description: This course requires a person operating a forklift truck to plan the work, conduct routine checks on a forklift truck, shift loads in a safe manner, and safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations.
A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck high risk work (HRW) licence. 
Entry requirements: You must be over 18 years old before the assessment date.

About: This course is for people who wish to operate a forklift and obtain the Workcover Licence. You must be a minimum of 18 years of age to attend this course. The Forklift Operations course runs from the 4th to the 6th of April 2018 at the Cooma Tafe Campus. Course times are 8:00am to 4:00pm.

You will need to provide 100 points of identification at the start of the assessment. A list of approved ID can be found on the SafeWork NSW website, http://www.safework.nsw.gov.au/ and will be provided to you on your first day.

You will need to wear appropriate clothing (PPE), steel capped boots, pen, note paper and calculator.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 23 hours. This includes approximately 25 hours of face to face training. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
- Independent study
- Work placement or simulated workplace activities
- Research and projects
- Preparation of assessment tasks
- Field/industry visits
- Tutorials
- Learning support

Recognition:
Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
- Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
