Description: This program is for Mechanical Engineering Trades people who are working in industries that use Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Lathes and/or Machining Centres. You will complete four units of competence:
• MEM07015B - Set computer controlled machines/processes
• MEM07016C - Set and edit computer controlled machines/processes
• MEM 07018C - Write basic NC/CNC programs
• MEM07024B Operate and monitor machine/process.
This course will give the student a basic understanding of the requirements to program and operate a CNC machine. 
Other requirements: Students are required to provide and wear their own personal protective equipment during lessons. This includes cotton drill work shirt, trousers, steel capped safety boots or shoes and safety glasses. Also required is a scientific calculator and pen. 
Entry requirements: Applicants MUST have the following entry (pre-requisite) requirements:
• MEM07005C - Perform general machining
• MEM09002B - Interpret technical drawing
• MEM12023A - Perform engineering measurements
• MEM18001C - Use hand tools 
Learning pathways: Further training pathways from this skillset include MEM40105 Certificate IV in Engineering and MEM50105 Diploma of Engineering - Advanced Trade or other relevant qualifications.

Scheduled attendance: Classes commence Monday 6/02/2017, Room E.G.8. Wollongong Campus, Lysaghts st, North Wollongong. Students will need to supply all PPE (steel cap boots, safety glasses, cotton drill long pants and shirt.

About: Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 40 supervised hours There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your supervised learning which may include:

Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general.
