Description: TAFE NSW is offering a short course in Food Handling and Work, Health and Safety that will give you the experience and confidence that you need to apply for the job you would like or gain experience in a career that you are interested in. This skill set provides you with the skills and knowledge to be competent in basic work, health, and safety procedures including food safety. This enables you to be a responsible team member in a Food Business. The course is suitable for learners who are seeking entry level work in hospitality businesses and existing employees who seek to update their knowledge and application of compliance-related skills. The unit SITXFSA001 unit is equivalent to one of the two units in the Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) qualification. This skill set will also give you 2 units that may go towards further study in the Hospitality industry. 
Entry requirements: All participants enrolling in to this course will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) - www. usi.gov.au

If you already have one of these units, Food Handling or Work, Health and Safety, you must provide evidence that you have completed the unit. You can do this by providing your transcript from the Registered training organisation that you did it with or something that shows the unit has been completed. If the evidence is not provided, you will not receive a TAFE NSW Certificate 
Learning pathways: These 2 units are part of Certificate III in Hospitality 
Career opportunities: This skill set will provide a pathway to work in cafes and coffee shops

About: This qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to be competent as a qualified Food Safety Supervisor in the Hospitality Industry.
This course is suitable for those who would like to pursue a career or are already involved in the Hospitality Industry and food handling as well as those wishing to own their own food business. Food Act 2003 (NSW) requires certain food businesses in the NSW hospitality and retail food service sector to have at least one trained Food Safety Supervisor (FSS).

This is a distance learning course delivered online. Participants are required to have intermediate computer skills. This qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to be competent in basic work, health, and safety procedures including food safety. This enables you to be a responsible team member in a Food Business. The course is suitable for learners who are seeking entry level work in hospitality businesses and existing employees who seek to update their knowledge and application of compliance-related skills. The unit SITXFSA001 unit is equivalent to one of the two units in the Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) qualification.

This is Fully Government Subsidised training. Please note that external licencing fees may apply to some courses.
To be eligible you must be:
- aged 15 years or older
- live or work in New South Wales
- have left school

This is Food Safety Supervisor Full Course

This short course contains nationally recognised units of competency - SITXFSA001, SITXWHS001

TAFE NSW reserves the right to cancel a course if there are insufficient numbers and will endeavour to give participants as much notice as possible.
Applying and enrolling: Before you enrol you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you don’t already have a USI, you can easily create one at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi.
