Description: TAFE NSW is now offering a short course in Work, Health and Safety. This course is contextualised to the Hospitality Industry and provides you with the skills and knowledge required to participate in Work, Health and Safety practices in your current or future workplace. The unit of study incorporates the requirement for all employees under state and territory WHS legislation, to participate in the management of their own health and safety, that of their colleagues and anyone else in the workplace which includes cooperating with their employer to follow practices to ensure safety at work. The course will enable you to incorporate safe work practices into your own workplace activities. This skill set will also give you 1 unit that may go towards further study in the Hospitality industry. 
Entry requirements: All participants enrolling in to this course will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) - www. usi.gov.au 
Learning pathways: This unit is included in a number of Training Packages in Tourism, Travel and Hospitality

About: This course is contextualised to the Hospitality Industry and provides you with the skills and knowledge required to participate in Work, Health and Safety practices in your current or future workplace. The course will enable you to incorporate safe work practices into your own workplace activities.

To complete the course successfully, you will need to have intermediate-level computer skills, access to a workplace for some of the assessment activities and the ability to follow predetermined health, safety and security procedures.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 18 hours. This includes approximately 9 hours of online training and assessment activity. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Other information: Cancellations should be advised in writing more than 7 days prior to commencement of the course to be eligible for a full refund. For cancellations advised within 7 days of the course no refund will be made however a substitute delegate may attend. If a substitute delegate is to attend you must contact us before the course commences. There are no fee exemptions available for commercial courses. Course fees cannot be refunded to participants who are unable to attend for reasons beyond TAFE NSW control. TAFE NSW reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient numbers and will endeavour to give participants as much notice as possible. Upon cancellation by TAFE NSW a full refund is made. 
Comments: Once your enrolment is approved, we will provide you with a opy of the Training Plan for the Unit of Competency being studied. When this is signed and returned to your teacher, access to the online learning materials and instructions for study and assessmennt will be forwarded to you. You will have three weeks from the issue of the Training Plan to complete the required study and submit your completed assessment activities.
