Description: TAFE NSW is offering a short course in Water Fitness that is designed for people who would like to make water activity and fitness a part of their career. In this course you will learn how to help people build cardiovascular fitness and strength covering all age groups and fitness levels. This skill set will also give you 4 units that may go towards further study in the fitness industry. 
Other requirements: All participants enrolling in to this course will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) - www. usi.gov.au 
Entry requirements: Certificate III in fitness or a relevant health/fitness qualification ie. physiotherapy, physical education, nursing, occupational therapy, exercise science, human movement science and sport - with anatomy and physiology component)

About: The units in this skill set meet the requirements of Fitness Australia necessary for work as a Aqua Exercise Instructor provided you have already completed or are currently completing SIS30315 - CIII in Fitness. Exercise scientists, Physiotherapists, Personal Trainers and Physical Education Teachers may be required to demonstrate competence in other areas to obtain registration with Fitness Australia as an Aqua Exercise Instructor. Practical sessions will be conducted at Oak Flats Swimming pool and you will need to be prepared for participating and leading activities in water. You will be required to perform water rescues and you must be physically capable of performing all rescue activities to acheive certification. After the course you will be required to record at least eight hours of aquatic exercise leadership.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 24 hours. This includes approximately 24 of face to face training. You may need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Required student skills:
This is a Certificate III level course. Individuals undertaking this course will be required to undertake one or more of the activities listed above.

This offering is targeting people who have already achieved a level of competence in exercise instruction and leadership such as SIS30315 CIII in Fitness as a minimum but may include exercise scientists, personal trainers (CIV) and Physical Education Teachers.

Comments: First day of attendance is Friday 16 of February at 9:00am at Shellharbour Campus room Building B, ground floor, room 4. You should bring paper and a pen and evidence that you have completed or are currently completing SIS30315 CIII in Fitness or that you are a registered exercise or fitness professional.

Recognition:
Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
