Description: This course is for English language learners wanting to improve their skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Before entry into this course, an interview time will be arranged with you and your English skills will be assessed. From these results you will be placed in an English language class suited to your ability level. English levels currently offered are elementary, post beginner, intermediate and advanced. 
Support for students: TAFE NSW has a range of support services available including support for students with disabilities, extensive library and information services, career advice and counselling, children's centres and support for multicultural or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. No matter what your circumstances are, TAFE NSW can assist you in many ways.

Course in English Language -12 Days TVH Students

You will be studying English Language Skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) for a total of 12 days

Bring an A4 folder and dividers, A4 lined paper, pens and a highlighter with you to class. If you have a bilingual dictionary, bring this also.
Your learning commitment (known as volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 60 hours. This includes approximately 60 hours of face to face training.
You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
- Independent study
- Work placement or simulated workplace activities
- Research and projects
- Preparation of assessment tasks
- Field/industry visits
- Tutorials
- Learning support Required student skills This is a Certificate I level course. Individuals undertaking this course will be required to undertake one or more of the activities listed above.

Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
