Description: This qualification reflects the role of personnel working on farms and stations who manage enterprise production units and employees and sole operators of agribusinesses who provide crop production advice and services to production enterprises.
Industry expects individuals with this qualification will take personal responsibility and exercise autonomy in undertaking complex work. They must analyse information and exercise judgement to complete a range of advanced skilled activities.

About: Participants are to wear long trousers, cotton drill shirt, fully enclosed leather boots and sun protection.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 1000 hours. This includes approximately 432 hours of face to face training. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits

Required student skills:
This is a Diploma level course. Skills required include essay writing and referencing, typing skills, computer literacy, reading and analysing material and resources, problem solving, the ability to be a self- direct learner, advanced communication skills and manage time effectively

This course is for people who want to develop their technical skills and knowledge for positions with livestock, cropping or mixed farming enterprises. Jobs include Farm Manager, Specialist Livestock Production Manager and Owner/Manager Small Farm Production.

If you do apply for a VET Student Loan you will need to have your Tax File Number (TFN) handy. If you do not have a TFN you can apply for one through most Australia Post outlets, and obtain a Certificate of Application for a TFN. Once you receive your TFN from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you must contact your college so they can arrange for you to enter it into your VET Student Loan application.

Recognition:
Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
