Description: This course is for apprentices in the carpentry trade.

You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills and knowledge used in the building and construction industry to efficiently produce quality work.

You will also learn about safe work practices and about the context of the building industry. 
Entry requirements: There are no educational entry requirements for this qualification.

However, before enrolling in this course you must successfully complete the WHS Induction Training (White Card) which will allow you entry into a construction worksite.

Certificate III Carpentry Apprentice 2018 Stage 1. Note: SBAT will have 2019 off for HSC year recommece stage 2 in 2020 Carpentry Apprenticeship.
Learners must be employed as an apprentice carpenter and be registered with The Australian Apprenticeship Network Provider to be admitted into this course.
Evidence of your apprenticeship and employment must be provided.
Learners must hold a SafeWork General Construction Induction (White Card).
Learners will be required to provide their own (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment. This can be purchased for approximately $50.00 You will need to purchase text books over the 3 year duration to a total cost of approximately $400 You will need to provide equipment and stationary to a total cost of approximately $80

First day of attendance is 1st March 2018.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 864 hours. The course will be delivered over approximately 540 hours. You may need to allocate hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which could include;
- Independent study
- Work placement or simulated workplace activities
- Research and projects
- Preparation of assessment tasks
- Field/industry visits
- Tutorials
- Learning support

Required student skills:
This is a Certificate III level course. Individuals undertaking this course will be required to undertake one or more of the activities listed above.

First day of attendance is 8th March 2018. Attendance is block release. There are 6 x 4 day blocks each year for 3 years. Block days are: Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday in this order. Class times are from 8:00am to 4.30pm Building J, Room J24, TAFE Wollongong Campus.

There will be an information session held prior to commencement of course you will be contacted via email (contact from Training Plan details) by Carpentry and Joinery staff.
