Description: This course is for apprentices who work in the painting and decorating trade. You will learn about the processes, materials, tools and equipment used and develop specialised skills associated with the surface coating industry.

You will also learn about the relationship of this trade to others in the building and construction industry. 
Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, before enrolling in this course you must successfully complete the WHS Induction Training (White Card) which will allow you entry into a construction worksite.

About: You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills and knowledge used in the Painting and Decorating industry to efficiently produce quality work. You will also learn about safe work practices and about the context of the Painting and Decorating industry.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 864 hours. This includes approximately 768 hours of face to face training. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Required Skills:
This is a Certificate III level course. This is a Certificate III level course. Individuals undertaking this course will be required to undertake one or more of the activities listed above.
