Successful completion in this course provides a specialist qualification in CPC32413 Certificate III in Plumbing, specialising in Drainage and Gas Services.

For a specialisation in Drainage and Roofing, refer to TAFE NSW course 12532.

This qualification provides a trade outcome in plumbing.

The qualification has core and elective unit of competency requirements that cover common and specialist skills for the plumbing industry in six specialist streams:
- Stream 1 Water
- Stream 2 Sanitary
- Stream 3 Drainage
- Stream 6 Gas services.

(Stream 4 Mechanical services and Stream 5 Roofing are excluded from this course because it is a specialist pathway for Drainage and Gas Services).

The plumbing industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.

Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 864 hours. You may need to allocate hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which could include;

This course is for plumbing apprentices who can provide a Training Plan Proposal (TPP) or Training Plan Summary (TPS). You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills and knowledge used in the plumbing industry to efficiently produce quality work. You will also learn about safe work practices in the context of the plumbing industry.

This qualification consists of 57 units of competency.

Selection criteria: Plumbing Apprenticship - Learners must be employed as an apprentice plumber and be registered with The Australian Apprenticeshop Centre (AAC) to be admitted into this course. Evidence of your apprenticeship and employment must be provided. Learners must hold a Workcover Induction for Construction qualification.

Fee explanatory text: Students will be required to provide their own (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment. This can be purchased for approximately $250.00. Students will also be required to purchase text books, drawing equipment and Australian Standards through the course to an approximate cost of $500.00 (all available from campus bookshop).
