Successful completion in this course provides a specialist qualification in CPC32413 Certificate III in Plumbing, specialising in Drainage and Gas Services.

This qualification provides a trade outcome in plumbing.

The qualification has core and elective unit of competency requirements that cover common and specialist skills for the plumbing industry in six specialist streams:
- Stream 1 Water
- Stream 2 Sanitary
- Stream 3 Drainage
- Stream 6 Gas services.

(Stream 4 Mechanical services and Stream 5 Roofing are excluded from this course because it is a specialist pathway for Drainage and Gas Services).

The plumbing industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.

Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

This course is available for people employed as an Apprentice and currently working in a related industry area.

You will need to provide a copy of your signed Training Plan which you will receive from your Australian Apprenticeships Centre representative.

This course is for plumbing apprentices that can provide a training plan proposal (TPP) or training plan summary (TPS). You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills and knowledge used in the plumbing industry to efficiently produce quality work. You will also learn about safe work practices in the context of the plumbing industry.

This qualification consists of 57 units of competency.

Your learning commitment for this qualification is 864 hours There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include:

Required student skills

This is a Certificate III level course. Skills to study effectively include the ability to work on projects and or in a team, research information, follow instructions and communicate effectively.

Applying and enrolling: Before you enrol you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Selection criteria: Plumbing Apprenticship - Learners must be employed as an apprentice plumber and be registered with The Australian Apprenticeshop Centre (AAC) to be admitted into this course. Evidence of your apprenticeship and employment must be provided. Learners must hold a Workcover Induction for Construction qualification.

The cost of this course will vary based on your eligibility for a Smart and Skilled Student Fee. Eligibility criteria can be found on the Smart and Skilled website or you can call us on 1300 766 123 for further information and advice.
Fee explanatory text: Students will be required to provide their own (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment. This can be purchased for approximately $250.00. Students will also be required to purchase text books, drawing equipment and Australian Standards through the course to an approximate cost of $500.00.

Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete partial or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
