Description: This qualification reflects the role of surveying technicians who work under supervision to support a surveying team. They perform a range of duties using surveying tools and equipment, including total stations and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply in some States where cadastral and mining surveying must be undertaken under the supervision of a registered surveyor. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

TAFE NSW will be offering this course for Trainees during 2017

This course is available for people employed as a Trainee and currently working in a related industry area.

You will need to provide a copy of your signed Training Plan which you will receive from your Australian Apprenticeships Centre representative.

You will be contacted by a staff member and advised of your attendance requirements as various study options may be available.

To be eligible for this course you must be an indentured Trainee and have a signed Training Plan.

Students will need to supply all PPE (steel cap boots, safety glasses, cotton drill long pants and shirt)

Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 665 supervised hours There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your supervised learning which may include:
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Required student skills This is a Certificate IV level course. Skills to study effectively include research and interpretation of information, referencing, time management and ability to work on projects and or in a team.
