Description: This course is for people who work or want to work in the retail baking sector of the food processing industry and provides trade baking skills and knowledge for those working in hot bread shops, cake shops, franchises, in-store bakeries and similar outlets.

You will learn to make a range of breads, pastries, and cakes using baking equipment and machinery. You will also learn to work safely and effectively, and monitor operational processes in the retail baking sector. 
Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

About: This course is designed for people wanting a versatile career as a Pastry Chef and Baker.
You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills and knowledge used in the Baking industry to efficiently produce quality work.
You will also learn about safe work practices and about the context of the Baking Industry.
This qualification consists of 17 core units and 3 electives endorsed by the Baking Industry Association of Australia.

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment for this qualification is 525 supervised hours.
There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include:

Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete partial or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
