Description: This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technology (ICT) technologies and to support small to medium enterprises (SMEs) that require broader rather than more specialised ICT support.

Persons working at this level apply a wide range of knowledge and skills in basic networking, ICT support, database development, programming and web development support; working safely and ethically in a sustainable work environment.

About: This course is delivered via a combination of class attendance, online facilitation and off campus directed activities. Completion of this Certificate IV will permit entry into the University of Wollongong Bachelor program

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 720 hours. This includes approximately 360 of face to face training. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;

• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Required student skills This is a Certificate IV level course. Skills to study effectively include research and interpretation of information, referencing, time management and ability to work on projects and or in a team. Additional required skills include using software to create documents, ability to create save and edit documents, attach and use devices and some knowledge of installing operating systems.

Comments: First day of attendance is Tuesday 18 July at 9:30am at Nowra campus, A Block, first floor, room 19. Required notebook, pen for first class. Students will receive additional course information in the first session. Attendance is Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am to 3:00pm at Nowra campus plus off campus directed activities.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
