Description: This qualification reflects the roles of individuals who perform mainly routine tasks and procedures, using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge, and taking some responsibility for the quality of the work outcomes.

This Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation is a pathway qualification and will prepare an individual in successfully undertaking a sector specified Certificate III from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.

About: This qualification is intended for people interested in exposure to an engineering or related working environment with a view to entering into employment in that area. This qualification will equip you with knowledge and skills which will enhance your prospects of employment in an engineering or related working environment.

Study in this program will be full time for a 4 week period, 4 days per week. Classes start at 8am and finish at 4.15pm. Students will need to supply all PPE (steel cap boots, safety glasses, cotton drill long pants and shirt). The program will be delivered from the Engineering building at North Wollongong TAFE, E&M Block, Foley Lane North Wollongong 2500. Room EG.37

Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 310 supervised hours There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your supervised learning which may include:
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
