Description: This qualification reflects the roles of individuals who perform mainly routine tasks and procedures, using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge, and taking some responsibility for the quality of the work outcomes.

This Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation is a pathway qualification and will prepare an individual to successfully undertake a sector specified Certificate III from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.

About: This course is scheduled to begin on the 13 February 2018 however may be postponed to allow for adequate enrolments. This programe is designed for entry level workers looking to get job ready skills for industry. The training delivered during the program will be specifically around metal and engineering, however the skills are transferable across all trade areas. Whilst undertaking the course students will learn skills in hand tools, power tools, workshop machines, workplace health and safety, drawing interpretation, welding and oxy cutting. Students will attend 3 days per week 7 hours per day (21 hours per week) over 6 weeks. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at Nowra TAFE (Metal fabrictionand Welding). Students will need to wear steel capped boots, cotton drill work clothes and have safety glasses. Prior to undertaking the course students will undertake RUReady testing to screen for LLN. On successful completion of the qualification students will receive a Certificate 11 in Resource, Infrastructure Work Preparation RII20115.
Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 50 nominal hours
There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your supervised learning which may include:
- Independent study
- Work placement or simulated workplace activities
- Research and projects
- Preparation of assessment tasks
- Field/industry visits
- Tutorials
- Learning support

This is a Certificate II level course. Individuals undertaking this course will be required to undertake one or more of the activities listed above.
