Description: This qualification reflects the role of employees working in supervisory positions in civil construction. They perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities most of which are complex and non-routine. They are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply management plans to the workplace.

About: Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 680 supervised hours There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your supervised learning which may include:
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

This is a Certificate IV level course. Skills to study effectively include research and interpretation of information, referencing, time management and ability to work on projects and or in a team.

This course is delivered and assessed in the workplace. Some campus attendance may be required depending on the circumstances of the individual or group. There is a high amount of workplace assessment and evidence gathering. The trainer will conduct one full day training session each month and conduct workplace visits in between. Specifc dates will be determined depending on your work schedule and nature of work.

This offering is for current Civil Construction workers including leading hands, gangers supervisors or any civil workers looking to gain further skills in supervisory roles.

Other information: All students will be required to briong basic stationery including a scientific calculator and will also need to bring Personal Protective Equipment incluidng safety boots, a broad brimmed hat and a long sleeve high visability shirt. 
Comments: Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
