Description: This qualification reflects the role of skilled florists who use a range of well-developed floristry skills to design, construct and sell a diverse range of floristry products. These individuals have sound knowledge of construction techniques and floristry design elements and principles. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision. They may provide technical advice and support to team members.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a florist in a diversity of floristry industry business types including retail floristry shops, studios and online floristry businesses.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

About: You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills and knowledge used in the floristry industry to efficiently produce quality work.
You will also learn about safe work practices and about the context of the floristry industry.
This qualification consists of 16 of core units and 5 electives.

Volume of Learning

Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 720 supervised hours There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your supervised learning which may include:
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Required student skills

This is a Certificate III level course. Skills to study effectively include the ability to work on projects and or in a team, research information, follow instructions and communicate effectively.

Certificate III in Floristry has costs for materials over and above the enrolment fee. Students will be required to purchase flowers for construction of floral arrangements in class. The average cost for flowers per week is around $50. In addition a set of course notes is available for approximately $80, and tools and equipment including safety PPE can cost around $200.

Other information: To be eligible for this course you must be an indentured Trainee and have a signed Training Plan.

Students will need to supply all PPE (steel cap boots, safety glasses, cotton drill long pants and shirt)
