Description: TAFE NSW is offering a short course in Support Stars that will give you the experience and confidence that you need to apply for the job you would like or gain experience in a career that you are already in. This course is specifically designed for job seekers between the ages of 18 and 24 who are interested in seeking employment in the aged care and disablilty care sector.

In this course you will learn how to communicate and work in health services, how to empower older people and follow established person centred behaviour. This skill set will also give you 5 units that may go towards further study in the Community Services industry. 
Other requirements: All students will be required to complete a WWCC and National Police check prior to attending work placement.
You will also be required to attend an information session. 
Entry requirements: All participants enrolling in to this course will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) - www. usi.gov.au 
Learning pathways: This can provide a pathway to further study in a number of Community Services Training Packages 
Career opportunities: Gaining employment in an Aged Care or Disability facility 
Support for students: TAFE NSW has a range of support services available including support for students with disabilities, extensive library and information services, career advice and counselling, children's centres and support for multicultural or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Customised course for job seekers who are interested in seeking employment in the aged care and disability care sector.

ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND AN INFORMATION SESSION AT Shellharbour Campus, Block: D Floor: Ground Room: 02 on Tuesday 22 August, 10:00am.
This will be followed by an RU Ready Screening on the 23 August, 2017 also at Shellharbour Campus.

This course will run for two days a week from Tuesday, 5 September 2017 at Shellharbour Campus commencing at 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Work placement will occur from the 16 October to 26 October, 2017. This will be in an aged care or disability facility.
This will run for 2 weeks, 4 days per week on Monday to Thursday. Times 9.00am - 3.00pm. Location will be advised. You will not be expected to attend TAFE during the September/ October Holidays.


This is Fully Government Subsidised training.
To be eligible you must be:
- live or work in New South Wales
- have left school

This short course contains nationally recognised units of competency - CHCCOM005, CHCDIS002, CHCAGE001, HLTWHS002, HLTAID003
