Description: This qualification reflects the role of hairdressers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients. They use discretion and judgement to provide client services and take responsibility for the outcomes of their own work.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a hairdresser in any industry environment, usually a salon.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Recognition:
Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete partial or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled

Comments: To enrol in this course you must be an apprentice employed in a hairdressing/barber salon. Evidence of training plan is required.
First day of attendance is Wedneday 12 July, 2017 at 10:00am. Building F, Level 1 Hairdressing Reception. This is an Orientation day for students and employers. Employers are invited to attend.

Any request for student Recognition of Prior Learning and evidence will be assessed on the first day - original documents will be required.
