||This qualification reflects the role of individuals operating at a senior level who use a wide range of specialised managerial skills and substantial knowledge of event management processes to conceive, plan and stage events. They operate with significant autonomy and are responsible for making strategic business and event management decisions.
Events are diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organisations operating in a range of industries, including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural, and community sectors.
The diversity of employers includes event or exhibition management companies, event venues, or organisations that organise their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place, on-site at venues where events are staged, or a combination of both.
Possible job titles include:
conference manager event director event producer event or exhibition manager functions manager in-house meetings manager meetings manager project manager venue manager.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Classes commence on Monday 23 July 2018 at 9:30am in Block: T Floor: G Room: 10 , Wollongong Campus.
This will be an orientation day where you will be provided with your timetable, uniform and text book list and a student orientation package.
Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 864 hours. This includes approximately 200 hours of face to face training. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
- Independent study
- Work placement or simulated workplace activities
- Research and projects
- Preparation of assessment tasks
- Field/industry visits
- Learning support
Student will be required to undertake planing and organisation of the Amazaing Race Wollongong and attend work placement at novotel Northbeach Wollongong.
Required student skills:
This is an Advanced Diploma level course. Skills required include essay writing and referencing, typing skills, computer literacy, reading analysing and creating material and resources, advanced problem solving, the ability to be a self- direct learner, advanced communication skills and manage time effectively

Students that enter this course will be joning the existing Advanced Diploma of Event Management students. This is not a stand alone offering.

If you do apply for a VET Student Loan you will need to have your Tax File Number (TFN) handy. If you do not have a TFN you can apply for one through most Australia Post outlets, and obtain a Certificate of Application for a TFN. Once you receive your TFN from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you must contact your college so they can arrange for you to enter it into your VET Student Loan application.

Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.
There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
