Description: A set of skills to equip individuals for serving alcohol responsibly.

Pathways Information Achievement of this unit provides credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, hospitality, events, holiday parks and resorts in the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.

Licensing/Regulatory Information Certification requirements apply at a state and territory level to individuals involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licenced premises. Certification in some States relies on the achievement of SITHFAB002 Provide responsible service of alcohol.

Responsible service of alcohol (RSA) legislative and knowledge requirements differ across borders. Those developing training to support the RSA unit must consult the relevant state or territory liquor licensing authority to determine any accreditation arrangements for courses, trainers and assessors. 
Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this course. 
Career opportunities: This skill set is for personnel involved in the sale, service, and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. It also applies to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for managing the responsible service of alcohol.

About: You can get your competency card through Service NSW Service Centre, go online to their Locator or call 13 77 88 to find a Service NSW centre that can process your competency card (not all Service NSW centres can do this).
You must visit Service NSW in person. Other people can’t apply for you. Bring your interim certificate from your first competency training course and identification totalling 100 points. You won’t get your competency card if you bring unacceptable identification documents, the details must exactly match your interim certificateand must be originals not photocopies. Service NSW will take your photo and ask for your signature as part of the application. Your card will arrive by mail in four weeks.
Once you receive your card, you can also download a digital competency card from the Service NSW App. Visit the Service NSW website for more information on how to set up your MyServiceNSW account and download your digital RSA/RCG Competency Card.

Nationally recognised unit of competency: SITHFAB002 Provide Service of Alcohol

THIS COURSE IS FOR FIRST TIME TRAINING ONLY, YOU CANNOT RENEW YOUR RSA IN THIS COURSE.

This course will run for one day on Monday 28 August 2017 at Bega Campus, commencing at 9:00 am - 3:30 pm. If you hold a valid competency card that is reaching expiry, Liquor & Gaming NSW will contact you by email and/or SMS about how to renew your card. The reminders begin 90 days before the card expires and are sent to the email address and mobile number you used to apply for your competency card.
You must enrol with correct ID and address details as NSW Liquor and Gaming will not issue Competency Card unless details are matched. E.g.: Enrol using all names including middle names and residential address as shown on identification documents.
You will be required to provide identification. Please bring photo ID with you on the day you enrol.
You must be 17 years or over to access this training.

Cancellations should be advised in writing more than 7 days prior to commencement of the course to be eligible for a full refund. For cancellations advised within 7 days of the course no refund will be made however a substitute delegate may attend. If a substitute delegate is to attend you must contact us before the course commences. There are no fee exemptions available for commercial courses. Course fees cannot be refunded to participants who are unable to attend for reasons beyond Illawarra Institutes control. Liquor and Gaming NSW will contact you by email and/or SMS before your current competency card expires with instructions on how to renew your RSA/RCG via their online portal. You must ensure your contact details are current with Liquor and Gaming NSW for them to be able to contact you.

First time studying RSA?
You can enrol in this course. It is essential you enrol with your correct ID and address details as Liquor and Gaming NSW will not issue a Competency Card unless all details are matched. E.g.: Enrol using all names including middle names and residential address as shown on proof of identification documents.
You will be required to provide identification, please bring photo ID with you on the day you enrol and/or to the course.
An RSA/RCG Competency Card allows you to work lawfully in the liquor and gaming industry. It is valid for five years. You must have your physical or digital competency card available at work.

Getting your RSA/RCG Competency Card.
Your interim certificate will allow you to work in the industry for up to 90 days. To apply for a card take your interim certificate and original identity documents to a participating Service NSW Service Centre, where you will have your identity verified and a photo taken that will appear on your card. Visit service.nsw.gov.au or call 13 77 88 to find the closest service centre that accepts competency card applications and for identity document requirements.

Digital Licences.
You can now get your RSA/RCG competency card as a digital licence on your smartphone or tablet.
