Description: A set of skills to equip individuals for serving alcohol responsibly.

Pathways Information Achievement of this unit provides credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, hospitality, events, holiday parks and resorts in the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.

Licensing/Regulatory Information Certification requirements apply at a state and territory level to individuals involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licenced premises. Certification in some States relies on the achievement of SITHFAB002 Provide responsible service of alcohol.

Responsible service of alcohol (RSA) legislative and knowledge requirements differ across borders. Those developing training to support the RSA unit must consult the relevant state or territory liquor licensing authority to determine any accreditation arrangements for courses, trainers and assessors. 
Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this course. 
Career opportunities: This skill set is for personnel involved in the sale, service, and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. It also applies to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for managing the responsible service of alcohol.

About: IMPORTANT: You cannot renew your RSA and/or RCG competency in this course.
Liquor and Gaming NSW will contact you by email and/or SMS before your current competency card expires with instructions on how to renew your RSA/RCG via their online portal. You must ensure your contact details are current with Liquor and Gaming NSW for them to be able to contact you.

First time studying RSA?
You can enrol in this course. It is essential you enrol with your correct ID and address details as Liquor and Gaming NSW will not issue a Competency Card unless all details are matched. E.g.: Enrol using all names including middle names and residential address as shown on proof of identification documents.
You will be required to provide identification, please bring photo ID with you on the day you enrol and/or to the course.
An RSA/RCG Competency Card allows you to work lawfully in the liquor and gaming industry. It is valid for five years. You must have your physical or digital competency card available at work.

Getting your RSA/RCG Competency Card.
Your interim certificate will allow you to work in the industry for up to 90 days. To apply for a card take your interim certificate and original identity documents to a participating Service NSW Service Centre, where you will have your identity verified and a photo taken that will appear on your card. Visit service.nsw.gov.au or call 13 77 88 to find the closest service centre that accepts competency card applications and for identity document requirements.

Digital Licences.
You can now get your RSA/RCG competency card as a digital licence on your smartphone or tablet.
