Description: This qualification specifies competencies required to practice as experienced practitioners delivering training and assessment services usually within Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) within the vocational education and training (VET) sector. This may involve leading other trainers, and assessors and in providing mentoring or advice to new trainers or assessors as well as designing approaches to learning and assessment strategies across a significant area within the RTO.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification considerations

There is no direct link between this qualification and licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. However, where required, a unit of competency will specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements that impact on the unit. 
Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

However the Training Package lists the following preferred pathways. Preferred pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:

* After achieving the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and vocational experience in training and assessment roles within an RTO or similar organisation where the focus has been on competency based training, or

* after achieving another relevant qualification and vocational experience in training and assessment roles within an RTO or similar organisation where the focus has been on competency based training and assessment, or

* after demonstrating extensive vocational experience in training and assessment roles within an RTO or similar organisation where the focus has been on competency based training and assessment. 
Learning pathways: Those completing this qualification could consider higher qualifications in this Training Package, the Training Package area of their vocational competence, or in the higher education sector. 
Career opportunities: Senior training/learning officer positions and registered training organisation positions.

Scheduled attendance: This course is a part time evening class, you will need to attend class on Thursday evenings from 6pm-8pm for 2 semesters.

About: Outside of class hours you will be expected to complete at least 10 hours per week of study, revision, reading, practice exercises and assessments.

Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 430 supervised hours There is an expectation that you will engage in a range of activities to support your supervised learning which may include:
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

This is a Diploma level course. Skills required include essay writing and referencing, typing skills, computer literacy, reading and analysing material and resources, problem solving, the ability to be a self- direct learner, advanced communication skills and manage time effectively If you think you might need help with choosing, enrolling in or completing your course check out TAFE Illawarra’s support-for-learners website. Course fees: $4,700
Fee explanatory text: Pending the passage of legislation, a VET student loan may be available for eligible students to cover some or all of their course fees. More information will be made available closer to your enrolment.
Comments: First class will be Thursday 30 March 2017 at 6pm. Please meet your teacher in the foyer of G Block. Please come prepared with a 2 ring folder, a USB, pen and some paper to your first class.

Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
