Description: This course is for trade qualified and licensed light vehicle mechanics who wish to become an Authorised Examiner under the Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme (AUVIS - formerly Blue Slip) administered by Roads and Maritime Services of NSW. The course is designed for light vehicle mechanics who are qualified and licensed and have a current APPROVAL FOR TRAINING letter issued by Roads and Maritime.

The AUVIS Examiner is authorised to conduct inspections and issue inspection reports for: Passenger cars and goods carrying vehicles that have a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 4.5 tonne or less; Motorcycles, including motorcycles with a side-car attached; Light trailers and caravans that have an Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) of 4.5 tonne or less including those fitted with breakaway brakes. They issue inspection reports that are used for Safety Checks, Identity Checks, Design Checks, Written-off Vehicle Checks, Adjustment Of Records and Clearance of design based Defect Notices.

Successful completion of the course enables your authority as an Authorised Examiner under the Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme. The course is delivered in a classroom and workshop environment at a TAFE college near you and includes 24 hours of face to face instruction (3 x 8 hour days) addressing the requirements of the Authorised Examiner role. The course covers your legal and compliance requirements and your role as a public official; the tools, methods and test equipment required to thoroughly inspect light vehicles; inspection processes and workflows; Safety, Identity and Design Check Standards; accessing and completing forms and using online reporting system.

Class attendance is required to complete this course. The course is delivered face to face at multiple locations across NSW and is managed from TAFE NSW Wollongong. 
Entry requirements: To enrol in this course you must meet the following entry requirements without exception.

1. Current ASCIS Examiner authority (Pink Slip Inspector) 2. Current RMS Approval for Training letter stating Course Title: AUVIS and Eligibility: EXAMINER sent to aisenquiry@tafensw.edu.au 3. Current Motor Mechanic Trade Persons Certificate (issued by Dept. Fair Trading) 4. Current Class C NSW Drivers Licence

About: This course is for trade qualified light vehicle mechanics who wish to become Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme Examiner (Blue Slip Inspector) and is delivered at a TAFE NSW classroom and workshop environment. The 24 hour course, delivered as a block of three 8 hour days, will guide you through legal and regulatory requirements, inspection standards, form work and AIS Online requirements Authorised Examiners must comply with.

Course assessment includes: knowledge quizzes, inspection of motor vehicles, completion of forms and use of AIS Online.

Your enrolment includes two attempts to pass the assessments.
 
Course fees: $1,467
Fee explanatory text: This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.
TAFE NSW does not accept cash. Payment may be made by Credit Card, EFTPOS, cheque or money order made payable to TAFE NSW.
Where fee for service is being sponsored by an employer or third party organisation an official purchase order or contract arrangement must be in place to activate the student’s enrolment.
Payment of the course fee must be made PRIOR to commencement of a learning activity.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:
Cancellations received seven days prior to the commencement of the program are eligible for a full refund. For cancellations within seven days no refunds will apply. Unless otherwise stated TAFE NSW reserves the right to cancel a course and will endeavour to give participants as much notice as possible. Upon cancellation of a program a full refund will be made or course transfer option provided.

Transfer Policy:
If you would like to transfer to another course, you must give at least seven days’ notice before the course commences.

Minimum Numbers Policy:
Courses are run subject to minimum enrolments. If TAFE NSW cancels a course due to low student enrolments, you will be notified and you will receive a full refund of fees or the option to transfer to another course if one is available.
Comments: Attendance is required at TAFE NSW Mount Druitt - Automotive Training Centre, Mount Street and North Parade, Mount Druitt for 3 days from
Tuesday 11 December - Wednesday 13 December 2018, 8.00am - 4.30pm.

The course is delivered in an Automotive Classroom and Workshop training facility. Be prepared to safely enter a workshop environment. TAFE NSW observes WHS requirements. Personal protective equipment such as safety boots, eye protection and approved clothing must be brought with you and worn on the day.
