Description: THIS COURSE DOES NOT AUTHORISE YOU TO SERVICE OR REPAIR LPG/CNG FUEL SYSTEMS.

This course is for trade qualified and licensed automotive light and heavy mechanics who wish to become an Authorised Gas Inspection Scheme Examiner (for LPG and CNG powered vehicles) administered by Roads and Maritime Services of NSW. The course is open to light and heavy vehicle mechanics who are qualified and licensed and have a current APPROVAL FOR TRAINING letter issued by Roads and Maritime.

The Authorised AGIS Examiner is responsible for carrying out inspections and issuing inspection reports on vehicles powered by LPG or CNG fuel systems. It is an additional accreditation that compliments your ASCIS, AUVIS and HVAIS Examiner authority.

Successful completion of this course enables your authority as an Authorised Examiner under the Authorised Gas Inspection Scheme. The course aims to inform you of inspection procedures specific to LPG/CNG fuel system component installation and compliance requirements, safety in relation to hosting an LPG/CNG powered vehicle in your workshop and reasons for rejection specific to LPG/CNG fuel systems. The course is delivered in a classroom and workshop environment at a TAFE college near you and includes 10 hours of face to face instruction designed to address the requirements of the Authorised Examiner’s role.

If you currently hold a NSW Fair Trading Tradesperson’s Certificate that confirms LPG/CNG Mechanic and/or Liquefied Petroleum Gas Mechanic you do not need to do this course. Please contact the RMS to activate this additional authority.

Class attendance is required to complete this course. The course is delivered face to face at multiple locations across NSW and is managed from TAFE NSW Wollongong.
Entry requirements: 1. You must hold active and current ASCIS, AUVIS and/or HVAIS Examiner Authority 2. You must hold active and current Motor Mechanic Trades persons accreditation issued by Dept. of Fair Trading NSW.
