Face to face attendance will be 6 hours per week; you should allocate a minimum 10 hours extra per week to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include:
- Independent study
- Work placement or simulated workplace activities
- Research and projects
- Preparation of assessment tasks
- Field/industry visits
- Tutorials
- Learning support

Required student skills:
This is a Diploma level course. Skills required include essay writing and referencing, typing skills, computer literacy, reading and analysing material and resources, problem solving, the ability to be a self- direct learner, advanced communication skills and manage time effectively

The Diploma of Horticulture reflects the role of those who manage amenity horticultural enterprises where a range of skills and knowledge across the breadth of the industry is required or personnel working in horticulture at a level requiring higher technical skills.

This course assumes a high level of existing underpinning knowledge and skills in the industry and it is a pre-requisite for this course to have completed a Certificate III level qualification or higher in horticulture or an equivalent discipline and have industry experience.

Application next steps: Your application will now be assessed and we will let you know the outcome. If you indicate, you would like a VET Student Loan we will be in touch with you soon to assess your eligibility and to proceed.

If you do apply for a VET Student Loan you will need to have your Tax File Number (TFN) handy. If you do not have a TFN you can apply for one through most Australia Post outlets, and obtain an Application for a TFN. Once you receive your TFN from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you must contact your college so they can arrange for you to enter it into your Vet Student Loan application.

The cost of this course will vary based on your eligibility for a Smart and Skilled Student Fee. Eligibility criteria can be found on the Smart and Skilled website or you can call us on 131 601 for further information and advice.

VET Student Loans are available for this course. The Unit of Study fees below apply if this is not your first qualification. Your actual fee may be less depending on your previous study. We will advise you of any fee reductions you are entitled to before you enrol.
Course fees: $4,820
Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a fee exemption. In claiming the exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accordance with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.
