Description: This qualification reflects the role of surveying or spatial information services assistants. These people provide support under supervision to a surveying or spatial information services team. They perform a range of duties, from collecting basic spatial data and providing field support services, to simple drafting and map production.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply in some States where cadastral and mining surveying must be undertaken under the supervision of a registered surveyor. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

This offering is for those wanting to work in surveying industry that have minimal or no experience.
The level of this course is aimed at a survey assistant role.

Participants are required to supply and wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – this includes safety boots, cotton drill trousers, long sleeve shirt, gloves, oxy goggles or safety glasses.

Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Further costs in addition to your student fees may be applicable for this qualification. These costs are to provide you with additional resources and/or Incidentals to support your learning. The following Incidentals are available for purchase at your local campus reception, class co-ordinator or you can source this item yourself:
Scientific Calculator approx $30 Textbook – ”Surveying for Engineers”- $130 Textbook – Technicians 7th Edition - $80

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.

You may be eligible for the Fee Free Apprenticeship which will be verified at enrolment.

Students are expected to undertake some study outside class hours and there may be extra attendance days (around 2) in March and June.

You may be requested to attend an information session day in January, date to be confirmed.
