Description: This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of technical skills in photo imaging, including lighting, image capture, enhancements and manipulation and output.

Practice at this level is predominately digital. It is underpinned by the application of integrated technical, theoretical and historical knowledge of photo imaging and the ability to develop concepts and solutions in response to a brief.

Practitioners may work in a range of industry contexts, including retail, commercial, domestic portrait, media, wedding, illustrative, institutional and art photography.

About: Semester 1 Information Week Monday, 21 January to Friday, 25 January 2019. Register your interest via TAFE NSW's Facebook page HERE This one-year course is suitable for those wishing to begin their journey in the Photographic Industry. Students entering the course should have a keen interest in photography and be ready to develop skills in camera craft, composition, digital enhancements, manipulation and output, location photography and an understanding of basic studio lighting.

Practice at this level is predominately digital. You will learn about photographic terminology, standard photographic industry equipment, commonly used photo editing programs and customer service.
This course includes black and white darkroom work.

The program integrates technical, theoretical and historical knowledge of photo imaging and the ability to develop concepts and solutions in response to a brief.

Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.

Comments: You will be required to attend an information session on Monday 4th February @ 11am in the Karoona Gallery at West Wollongong campus. This session will be used to explain the structure of the course, the timetable and student requirements.
First day of attendance will be Monday 11th February 2019 at 9:30am in Block F, First Floor, Room F35. Students are to bring a notebook, pen, SLR Camera and a USB to their first class.
