Description: This qualification reflects the role of individuals who combine technical, creative and conceptual skills to create designs that meet client requirements and solve a range of visual communication challenges. Practice at this level is underpinned by application of design theory and practice and the ability to analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources to generate design solutions.

Practitioners may work in many different commercial and community contexts across both print and digital media.

Entry requirements: To enter this qualification, individuals must provide evidence of their technical skills and ability to:
- produce multiple examples of graphic design work that respond effectively to different design challenges
- produce typography that supports the overall design solution
- use graphic design industry software

Skills may have been acquired through personal or work experience, or through formal study.

About: Semester 1 Information Week Monday, 21 January to Friday, 25 January 2019. Register your interest via TAFE NSW's Facebook page HERE This one year course is suitable for those wishing to further their journey in the Design industry as a graphic designer in the areas of print and digital design. The course builds the theoretical, practical and technical skills necessary to work as a graphic designer. Students learn the theoretical, practical and technical skills necessary to solve problems creatively, be imaginative, think laterally and look to innovative and contemporary solutions to design problems. Students also learn basic business planning, management skills and how they apply to the development of a design project, along with how to allocate work, provide support, client feedback and networking with industry. Students are strongly encouraged to obtain a copy of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

Entry Requirements: Entry into the Diploma of Graphic Design requires completion of the Certificate IV in Design or evidence of professional or academic experience in the graphic design or related design industries.

Application next steps: Your application will now be assessed and we will let you know the outcome. If you indicated you would like a VET Student Loan we will be in touch with you soon to assess your eligibility and to explain how to proceed.

If you do apply for a VET Student Loan you will need to have your Tax File Number (TFN) handy. If you do not have a TFN you can apply for one through most Australia Post outlets, and obtain a Certificate of Application for a TFN. Once you receive your TFN from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you must contact your college so they can arrange for you to enter it into your VET Student Loan application.

The cost of this course will vary based on your eligibility for a Smart and Skilled Student Fee. Eligibility criteria can be found on the Smart and Skilled website or you can call us on 131 601 for further information and advice.

VET Student Loans are available for this course. The Unit of Study fees below apply if this is not your first qualification. Your actual fee may be less depending on your previous study. We will advise you of any fee reductions you are entitled to before you enrol.
Course fees: $4,060
Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a fee exemption. In claiming the exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accordance with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.

The Unit of Study fees below, apply if this is not your first qualification. Your actual fee may be less depending on your previous study or experience. Make sure you talk to a teacher as soon as possible about applying for Recognition.

A VET student loan may be available to eligible students to cover some or all of their courses fees. More information will be provided when you enrol.
