Description: This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:

- English language proficiency of level 1 on the ISLPR® scale.
- English language proficiency to undertake qualifications requiring proficiency of ISLPR® 1, IELTS 3.5 or CEFR A2 on entry, which provide a pathway to access employment, training and community participation. 
Entry requirements: A minimum English language proficiency of ISLPR 1-, IELTS 3 or CEFR A1 across all skills of Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing. 
Learning pathways: Completion of this course provides pathways into:

- 10589NAT Certificate II in Basic English for Speakers of Other Languages.
- Employment, further education and training requiring English language skills commensurate wth ISLPR® 1, IELTS 3.5 or CEFR A2.

There are no formalised articulation arrangements in place for this qualification.

About: The first day of attendance is Wednesday 6th of February, from 9:00am to 2:30pm. Please attend the Reception Office K1:16 to pick up your timetable. New students will need to do an English Language Assessment to check their English skills are appropriate for this class. This is a Certificate I level course. Individuals undertaking this course will be required to undertake one or more of the activities listed above.

Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.
Comments: The first day of attendance is Wednesday 6th of February, from 9:00am to 2:30pm, at TAFE NSW Wollongong. Please come to K Block First Floor , Reception Office K1:16 to pick up your timetable with information about your class days, times and classrooms. Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
