Description: 10728NAT Certificate II in Spoken and Written English is a component of the Certificates in Spoken and Written English (CSWE), English as an additional language (EAL) curriculum framework.

It is a post-beginner course for learners who have had some formal or informal exposure to English and who already possess a foundational level of English language skills and numeracy. It provides English language learning for EAL learners, primarily targeting newly arrived migrants and refugees who need English language skills to participate in a limited range of community, further training or employment contexts. The Certificate II in Spoken and Written English also includes elective numeracy modules for those EAL learners who may need to develop numeracy skills.

This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:

- English language proficiency at the equivalent of International Second Language Proficiency Ratings (ISLPR®) 2+, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 5.0, or Common European Framework (CEFR) B1+
- English language proficiency to meet some performance features of Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) 2 indicators. 
Entry requirements: The recommended entry point against the International Second Language Proficiency Rating scale is 1+ across the four macroskills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The recommended entry point against the Australian Core Skills Framework is ACSF 1. 
Learning pathways: There are no formalised articulation arrangements in place for this qualification. 
Support for students: TAFE NSW has a range of support services available including support for students with disabilities, extensive library and information services, career advice and counselling, children's centres and support for multicultural or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The cost of this course will vary based on your eligibility for a Smart and Skilled Student Fee. Eligibility criteria can be found on the Smart and Skilled website or you can call us on 131 601 for further information and advice.
Course fees: $5,280
Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
Comments: Classes start on Monday 4th February 2019. Class will run for 3 days per week 16 hours. The days may vary according to the class you are in. If you are a new student you will require an English Language Assessment.
