Description: This course will help you safely operate a chainsaw or pole saw in the horticultural or arboriculture industries.
You will learn to safely and effectively use a chainsaw or pole saw in cross cutting, ripping, delimbing, trimming logs and felled trees. You will be able to recognise situations where the use of a chainsaw or pole saw is inappropriate and unsafe. 
Entry requirements: There are no formal entry requirements for this course however, the completion of a First Aid Certificate is recommended given the high risk nature of chainsaw operations. Participants must have a high level of physical fitness and manual dexterity.

About: You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for safe operation and maintenance of chainsaws in horticultural contexts. This qualification consists of 4 core units relating to safe chainsaw maintenance and operation, pole saw operation, trimming and cross cutting of fallen trees.

All participants must meet Work Health and Safety standards throughout this course delivery. All participants must be dressed appropriately including Long sleeved hi-vis shirt and trousers, work boots and broad brimmed hats. Safety equipment for chainsaw operation will be provided and must be used, including combination hard hat, faceshield and earmuffs and safety leg protection.
