Description: Does your job require you to work in gaming areas of licensed premises? Enrol in the Statement of Attainment in Responsible Conduct of Gambling in order to carry out your duties responsibly. This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required in identifying the impact of problem gambling on the community, and offering assistance and advice to gamblers and their families. This course is appropriate for all staff members working in gaming areas of licensed premises.
Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) helps to ensure compliance with the law, reduce gambling related issues and to promote safety (harm minimisation) in venues where there are gaming machines As part of Gaming Machines Act 2001 and Regulation 2002 legislation, people working in the gaming sector will require skills and knowledge in understanding the context of Responsible Conduct of Gambling, the impact of gambling, identify legislative measures and community issues, implement strategies used to reduce the harm associated with the misuse and abuse of gambling activities, and the benefits of implementing Responsible Conduct of Gambling strategies.

Students need to be aware that if they have a criminal record involving violence or abuse there may be limitations to their career options in areas involving contact with vulnerable people.
Other requirements: RCG training is mandatory if your work duties involve gaming machines. This includes, but is not limited to:
- licensees of a full hotel licence
- secretaries of a registered club
- staff with gaming machine duties
- staff who pay out winnings
- staff who patrol or serve in the gaming machine area

Whether you are a staff member or an employer, you may be fined if you work without a valid competency card, or allow employees to work without one
Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this course.
Whilst NSW laws restrict the sale, consumption and provision of alcohol and access to gambling activities to people under the age of 18 years (minors) there is no specific advice given by the NSW Office Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR), The Liquor Act (2007), The Gaming Machine Act (2001), The Liquor Regulation (2008), The Gaming Machines Regulation (2002) and Services Skills Australia about the age of participants undertaking units of competency related to the sale, consumption and provision of alcohol and access to gambling activities.
Career opportunities: Croupier, gambling attendant.
Support for students: TAFE NSW has a range of support services available including support for students with disabilities, extensive library and information services, career advice and counselling, children's centres and support for multicultural or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. No matter what your circumstances are, TAFE NSW can assist you in many ways.

6 hours of supervised instruction by TAFE NSW teaching staff over a period of 1 day.

2 hours of directed pre-reading of student notes prior to attendance is recommended to enhance your learning experience.

Self-Directed Learning recommended. This may include Industry e journals and e magazines, viewing “You tube” clips and internet research. Even observing signage and facilities within a Hospitality establishment.

Service NSW will take your photo and ask for your signature as part of the application. Your card will arrive by mail in four weeks. Once you receive your card, you can also download a digital competency card from the Service NSW App. Visit the Service NSW website for more information on how to set up your MyServiceNSW account and download your digital RSA/RCG Competency Card. THIS COURSE IS FOR FIRST TIME TRAINING ONLY, YOU CANNOT RENEW YOUR RSA IN THIS COURSE
If you hold a valid competency card that is reaching expiry, Liquor & Gaming NSW will contact you by email and/or SMS about how to renew your card. The reminders begin 90 days before the card expires and are sent to the email address and mobile number you used to apply for your competency card. You must enrol with correct ID and address details as NSW Liquor and Gaming will not issue Competency Card unless details are matched. E.g.: Enrol using all names including middle names and residential address as shown on identification documents. You will be required to provide identification. Please bring photo ID with you on the day you enrol. You must be 17 years or over to access this training.

You can get your competency card through Service NSW Service Centre, go online to their Locator or call 13 77 88 to find a Service NSW centre that can process your competency card (not all Service NSW centres can do this).

You must visit Service NSW in person. Other people can’t apply for you. Bring your interim certificate from your first competency training course and identification totalling 100 points. You will not get your competency card if you bring unacceptable identification documents, the details must exactly match your interim certificate and must be originals not photocopies.
