Description: Reaching for a career as an educator or support worker in an education and care setting? The Statement of Attainment in Provide Emergency First Aid in Education and Care Settings will ensure you are prepared and qualified to respond to first aid emergencies, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. You will learn how to react in an emergency situation, carry out appropriate first aid procedures, clearly communicate details of the incident and reflect on event and own actions. This short introductory course is delivered on a TAFE NSW campus. It also meets the regulatory requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 for an approved first aid qualification, approved anaphylaxis management training and approved emergency asthma management training. Upon successful course completion, you will be equipped to work in a first aid role that may deal with life-threatening emergencies in a variety of education and care settings. This qualification is useful in careers such as an Early Childhood (Pre-primary School) Worker. 
Other requirements: WORK PLACEMENTS

Many TAFE courses have a compulsory work placement component to assist you to apply your learning in a practical environment and you may be required to comply with some (or all) of the following.

1. HEALTH - NSW MINISTRY OF HEALTH - If you are over 18 you will be required to undertake a National Criminal Record Check. Visit:

- You will be required to sign the NSW Health Student Undertaking where you agree to notify NSW Health if your status changes after the date of issue of your National Police Certificate or during the completion of your course.
- You will be required to undertake Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Infectious Diseases and provide your Health Care Worker/Student Vaccination Record Card.

- You will be required to read and sign the NSW Health Code of Conduct form.

4. STUDENT READINESS FOR WORK PLACEMENT - Generally work placements will only occur after there has been a reasonable amount of student/teacher contact and when the teacher is satisfied that you are ready to benefit from workplace learning and perform workplace duties. Your teacher can provide further information.

Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this course. 
Learning pathways: Credit for Prior Learning If you already have skills and knowledge that are relevant to your course, you may be able to apply for credit through articulation, credit transfer or recognition of prior learning.

About: There is ’highly recommended’ First Aid pre course work. This can either be accessed by enrolling in a free on line TAFE NSW practice website or pre reading the TAFE NSW First Aid Textbook (8th Edition). The TAFE NSW South First Aid Section will make contact with you in regards to your preferred option. On the day of attendance you will be assessed on both practical and theory components of the course.

During the practical CPR assessment on your day of attendance, you will be required to perform two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on both an infant and adult manikin at floor level. This is a training package requirement and you should consider your ability to perform this assessment task before enrolling.

Once payment is completed, a welcome email will be sent with your preferred pre course method instructions and shall include course times; campus; classroom and teacher.
