Description: This unit of competence (TLILIC0003) specifies the outcomes required for the operation of a powered industrial truck equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other attachment, for licensing purposes. This will prepare the participant for their assessment. The national assessment is designed for users and operators of forklift trucks who wish to obtain a SafeWork NSW High Risk Work (HRW) license (LF).

The following topics indicate the essential outcome requirements:
- Planning Work
- Conducting Routine Checks
- Shifting Load
- Shutting down and securing Forklift Truck 
Entry requirements: * Participants MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD to participate in this course.

* Participants MUST provide documents of identity that add up to 100 points on the day of assessment. These documents should be the same documents that you will provide to the Australia Post Customer Service Officer as evidence of identity when you lodge your application. A detailed list of the POI requirements will be made available to the participant upon registration into the course.

* The course fee does not include the Application Fee for the high risk licence. The cost for the licence is approximately $72.50.

* If the participant requires a verbal assessment, this must be specified at the time of registration. A verbal assessment will incur an additional fee of $180.

This course offering is designed for people who:
- are new or existing workers training to become a licensed forklift operator. Students undertake this unit to gain High Risk Work (HRW) licensing in Forklift allowing persons to work un-supervised whilst performing forklift work/tasks.

Other information: With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to the needs of local students and specific cohorts (like apprentices, fast-tracked students and online students). This means you will also need to meet any entry requirements listed below.


To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:
- Over 18 years of age and that you live in NSW. A list of approved ID can be found on the SafeWork NSW website, www.safework.nsw.gov.au.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:
- To provide 100 points of identification at the start of the SafeWork (WorkCover) assessment including (1) form of current photo identification.
- You will need to wear appropriate clothing, steel capped boots, hard hat and bring pens, paper and a calculator.

- A Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) level at ACSF Level of Reading - 2, Writing - 2, Oral Communication - 3, Numeracy - 3 and Learning - 3, when commencing the course and basic computer skills. This will be assessed as part of your enrolment process.

TAFE NSW will provide support for your LLN and other needs.

Progress through the course is monitored against your training plan so that any issues are identified and rectified in a timely manner.

You will be provided with a timetable, assessment guides, advice about additional materials you may need to purchase and information on the support services available to you.

Activate your student portal account which allows you to check your results, see fees and payments, and download your timetable.

To activate your account, go to https://my.tafensw.edu.au and login with your username and password, which was created as part of the online enrolment process and/or included on your receipt. Call us on 131 601 if you need it to be reset.

Once logged in, change your password and create 3 secret questions and answers.

Speak with customer service staff on campus to get your TAFECard which gives you special access to printing, copying and other services.
