Description: This course provides the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work in NSW. On completion you will be able to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. The course covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work. 
Entry requirements: SafeWork NSW require all applicants undertaking this training to be a minimum of 14 years of age. 
Career opportunities: This course will allow you to work on construction sites.

This is a face to face part time day course. You will need to attend approximately 6 hours of class, over 1 day.

You may also be required to complete approximately 1 hours of additional study outside of class hours, including the SafeWork paperwork.

- Are looking for employment in the construction, maintenance, resource and infrastructure industry sectors a general induction is required.

**SERVICES AND STUDY SUPPORT**

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) support TAFE NSW will make every reasonable effort to ensure that it can accommodate a learner’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy needs. Support is based on a review of the applicants LLN skills through written tasks and a one-on-one interview and if deemed applicable, a meeting will be arranged to discuss the LLN assistance that TAFE NSW can provide to the learner, with a view to creating an individual training and learning plan that best addresses the learner’s LLN needs.

Disabilities Services Where learners are unable to undergo training and assessment due to a physical, hearing, vision, mental health/neurological or learning/intellectual disability, TAFE NSW Disability Teacher Consultants will develop an Individual Education Plan where reasonable adjustment is negotiated with the learner.

Careers, Counselling and Pathways Service
TAFE NSW Careers, Counselling and Pathways Service is a confidential service to assist learners succeed in their studies. TAFE NSW Counsellors are highly qualified and support enrolled TAFE NSW learners with:

You will need to provide the following resources which is retained on completion of study:
Personal Protective Equipment - please wear comfortable and practical clothing, safety boots and bring a hard hat.
Other information: **COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS**

To successfully complete this course, you will need:
- Sufficient language, literacy, numeracy at Level 1.
- Be able to demonstrate use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
- You must provide 100 points of identification at the start of the SafeWork (WorkCover) assessment including (1) form of current photo identification. To be able to attend the assessment you need to provide proof that you are over 14 years of age and that you live in NSW. A list of approved ID can be found on the SafeWork NSW website, www.safework.nsw.gov.au.

To activate your account, go to https://my.tafensw.edu.au and login with your username and password, which was created as part of the online enrolment process and/or included on your receipt. Call us on 131 601 if you need it to be reset.

Once logged in, change your password and create 3 secret questions and answers.

Speak with customer service staff on campus to get your TAFECard which gives you special access to printing, copying and other services.
