Description: This qualification is for persons operating within an organisation that provides professional pet grooming services. A pet grooming attendant undertakes salon reception and housekeeping duties as well as bathing, brushing, trimming and other basic grooming services for domestic pets, usually dogs and in some cases cats. The duties require patience and a genuine empathy for animals, excellent customer service skills as well as high standards of cleanliness and professionalism.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, an individual unit of competency may specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant State or Territory.

About: Your first class will be 9.00am -12.00pm on Monday 4 February 2019 in room AF11 at Yallah campus. This course is blended delivery, using online resources (Moodle) and sessions and face-to-face workshops at our Equine facilities at Yallah campus.
Along side your course work you are required to complete a minimum of 8 hours per week of work experience (paid or voluntary) within an animal care industry which provides pet grooming services. Practical skills are a key component to this course. At Orientation your teacher will discuss work experience and confirm with you your timetable based on your previous studies - this will determine your attendance days. This will be Monday or Tuesday or both days.

Please ensure you bring writing materials and a USB stick with you and wear appropriate clothing including enclosed shoes, covered shoulders and long pants.

The Certificate III Pet Grooming is for persons operating within an organisation that provides professional pet grooming services. Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
Comments: Orientation will be held at TAFE NSW Yallah Campus room AF11 on Wednesday 30 January 2019, 9.00am to 12.00pm. Please ensure that you have made a payment for your course before attending so we can finalise your enrolment.
