Description: This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture. The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production, cropping or livestock context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both cropping and livestock.

Individuals with this qualification carry out routine tasks under general supervision and exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work. Job roles vary across different industry sectors and may include:

• Assistant animal attendant/stockperson
• Assistant farm or station hand
• Assistant farm or station worker
• Assistant farm or station labourer.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Scheduled attendance: Commencement is 22 July 2019. This is an 18 month Flexible part-time blended course. 
Hours per week: 15

About: Commencement is 22 July 2019. This is an 18 month Flexible part-time blended course. This equates to approximately 15 hours of study and assessment completion per week with an additional 5 hours of of additional learning.

Due to the blended delivery students can start at anytime. Practical workshops are conducted at the TAFE NSW Goulburn campus equine centre. There are approximately four workshops per year running over three to four days. These are timetabled in advance. If students are unable to attend workshops to complete their practical, and they have industry experience and access to industry facilities, then there is the opportunity of remote practical assessment including submission of video. These options are granted on a one-on-one basis and subject to approval.

Students attending practical workshops are responsible for paying for their own transport, accommodation and meals. Student accommodation is available on Goulburn campus. More details are provided during workshop information/registration sessions. Students are responsible for their own PPE including covered footwear suitable for handling horses.

In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
