Description: This qualification reflects the role of sign manufacturers who design and produce signs and graphics for a range of purposes.

Signs and graphics can be produced using a range of traditional and contemporary techniques, often involving the use of advanced printing software and technology, and a range of methods for illumination and fabrication.

No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of endorsement. 
Entry requirements: Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 covers this requirement.

This is a Face to Face course delivered by Block Attendance. Each block attendance you will need to attend approximately 30 hours of class, over 4 days a week, for 16 blocks over 2 years.

You may also be required to complete approximately 12 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including independent study, research, practice and assignments.

**MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE**

- You will learn about the processes, materials, tools and equipment used and develop specialised skills associated with the industry.
- You will also learn about the relationship of this trade to others in the building and construction industry.
Applying and enrolling: Before you can start an apprenticeship, you first need to find an employer in the industry you’re interested in that will support you through your studies. You and your employer should contact an Apprenticeship Network Provider (ANP) and tell them you’re interested in studying at TAFE NSW.
The ANP will help you and your employer to complete a Training Contract. Once you have a Training Contract, we will help you, your employer and the ANP to complete a Training Plan Proposal. Once you have both these documents, the ANP will lodge them with State Training Services, who will provide further advice about next steps.

You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

Personal Protective Equipment - You will need to bring all appropriate PPE to each class.
Students must also bring a ruler, pens and pencils, notepad and calculator.
Other information: **COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS**

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:
- an apprentice (you will work in industry and study at the same time)
- employed full time
- signed up with an Apprentice Network Provider and have a Training Plan Proposal
- seeking to gain skills and knowledge to become a qualified Sign Writer, Sign Maker or Sign Installer after successful completion.
- Current White Card.
