Description: This course is for construction workers who need to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding and associated equipment. Scaffolders plan, build and erect scaffolding and working platforms for construction projects, as well as building stands and tiered seating for public events such as concerts or sporting events.

The course covers planning, erecting and dismantling modular and tubular scaffolding. You will learn how to build modular and coupler scaffolds, fall protection devices, catch platforms and bracket scaffolds. You will also learn about associated scaffolding operations. 
Entry requirements: Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 covers this requirement.

Your learning commitment for this qualification is a minimum of 1200 hours. This includes approximately 156hrs of face-to-face training.

You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning. You will be required to undertake independent study and complete take home assignment (approximately 156 hours) and you must be currently employed or recently employed within the scaffolding industry or related industries and be able to show a minimum 25 weeks of work within the industry.

To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in 13 units, 3 of the units will allow you to progress to the SafeWork assessment for the licences in Basic scaffolding, Intermediate Scaffolding and Forklift.

You must provide 100 points of identification at the start of each SafeWork (WorkCover) assessment including (1) form of current photo identification. To be able to attend the assessments you need to provide proof that you are over 18 years of age and that you live in NSW. A list of approved ID can be found on the SafeWork NSW website, www.safework.nsw.gov.au.

You will need to wear appropriate clothing, steel capped boots, hard hat, pen, paper and a calculator.

Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. In claiming the concession or exemption, students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

To be able to attend the SafeWork NSW assessments you need to provide proof that you are over 18 years of age and that you live in NSW. A list of approved ID can be found on the SafeWork NSW website, www.safework.nsw.gov.au. A re-assessment fee will be applied for any re-assessments of the SafeWork licences.

On successful completion on the SafeWork assessment the students will be required to apply for the high risk work licence at the post office where a passport size photo is required, proof of identity confirmed and fee will be applied to process the application (approx. $72.50).

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
