Description: This qualification describes the skills and knowledge of a bakers assistant working in a commercial baking environment.

All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, in accordance with State/Territory food safety, and work health and safety, regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Tools and Uniform Requirements: You are required to wear the trade uniform to all practical lessons.

Approximate students costs are:
• Full Chefs uniform (approximate cost $80.00) including Neckerchief - Light Blue
• Leather safety boots (approximate cost $60.00)
• Tool kit (approximate cost $290.00)

Note: Any hair that is longer than collar length must be contained under a hat or hair net and hat.

This includes attendance for 8 hours per week for 36 weeks, participation in workplace simulation, and participation in hours online study.

You will need to allocate ttime to engage in a range of directed activities and self-directed learning such as research and projects, field/industry visits, preparation of assessment tasks, learning support and online learning.
The proposed study schedule will be discussed and an individual training plan will be established. Should you fall behind your agreed schedule you will be required to complete additional work and learning outside scheduled class time.

Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility. Further costs in addition to your student fees may be applicable for this qualification. These costs are to provide you with additional resources and/or Incidentals to support your learning: RSA Licensing $85.00

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
Comments: Attendance: First day, as well as Compulsory Information and Orientation session will be held on Wednesday the 6th of February 2019. On this day you will obtain your course requirements and timetable. At 8:00am, please attend W Block, at TAFE NSW Wollongong.
