Description: This qualification reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries, including tax agents, accounts payable and accounts receivable officers, payroll service providers, and employees performing a range of accounting tasks for organisations in a range of industries. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and provide guidance to others within defined guidelines.

Work functions in the occupational areas where this qualification may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. Refer to the FNS Financial Services Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide or the relevant regulator for specific guidance on requirements.

This qualification includes units that comprise an approved Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) course in Australian taxation law and commercial law, which are relevant for registration as a tax agent. Persons seeking registration with the TPB should check current registration requirements with the TPB, as registration requirements are reviewed regularly. 
Entry requirements: Completion of the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set;
OR Completion of FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting or equivalent;
OR Completion of FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent.

Scheduled attendance: Class commences Tuesday 23 July 2019. Attendance is Tuesday and Wednesday 9.00am to 3.30pm for 18 weeks in room G.26 at TAFE NSW Shellharbour.

About: You are invited to attend an information session on Wednesday 26 June 2019 between 2.00pm and 6.00pm in room DF.35 at TAFE NSW Shellharbour. Students who cannot attend the Information Session please make an online enquiry or contact us on 131 601 for more information about the course.

Your first class starts Tuesday 23 July 2019. Please meet your teacher in the foyer of G Block.

Students will be expected to spend approximately 15 hours per week outside the classroom on directed activities and self-directed learning, engaging in a range of activities to support the supervised learning such as independent study, research, preparation of assessment tasks, learning support, online learning. An additional 12 hours per week of unstructured learning may also be required.

Students should bring a USB Thumb drive, writing paper, pens and folder to their first lesson.
Text books and work books are available from the campus library. Should you wish to purchase your own copies they are available from the ITSA bookshop in the campus canteen.

The expectation is that by enrolling in this qualification you commit to the time frame in which the qualification is being delivered. The proposed study schedule will be discussed and an individual training plan will be established. Should you fall behind your agreed schedule you will be required to complete additional work and learning outside scheduled class time.

Application next steps: Your application will now be assessed and we will let you know the outcome. If you indicated you would like a VET Student Loan we will be in touch with you soon to assess your eligibility and to explain how to proceed.

If you do apply for a VET Student Loan you will need to have your Tax File Number (TFN) handy. If you do not have a TFN you can apply for one through most Australia Post outlets, and obtain a Certificate of Application for a TFN. Once you receive your TFN from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you must contact your college so they can arrange for you to enter it into your VET Student Loan application.

The cost of this course will vary based on your eligibility for a Smart and Skilled Student Fee. Eligibility criteria can be found on the Smart and Skilled website or you can call us on 131 601 for further information and advice.

VET Student Loans are available for this course. The Unit of Study fees below apply if this is not your first qualification. Your actual fee may be less depending on your previous study. We will advise you of any fee reductions you are entitled to before you enrol.
Course fees: $2,850
Fee explanatory text: This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a fee exemption. In claiming the exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accordance with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.
