Description: This course is for people entering employment in manufacturing, engineering and related industry areas. You will gain the basic competencies required to work as an operator in these areas.

You will acquire skills and knowledge in workplace communication, occupational health and safety, quality procedures and planning, plus some industry-specific skills in a production or process area relevant to your current or intended employment.

The course duration will vary depending on the training pathway agreed to between you, your employer and the TAFE college. 
Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification. 
Learning pathways: When you finish this course you may be eligible to enrol in other courses in the MEM05 Metal and Engineering Training Package. 
Career opportunities: Operator-production worker or operator-process worker at level C13 under the Metal, Engineering and Associated Industries Award.

Dates for this course being run in May 2019 at TAFE NSW Nowra are being discussed.

The key element to this course is the opportunity for work placement with companies who are actively looking to employ apprentices! There will be 3 days of structured face to face training at the TAFE NSW facilities and two days a week in a work placement arrangements within the local industry for the duration of delivery. There will then be a 2 week block of work placement.
