**INDUSTRY DEMAND**

A skills shortage in the hair and beauty industry means there are strong employment opportunities available. Further growth is predicted in the future. 
Entry requirements: **TRAINING PACKAGE REQUIREMENTS**

There are no Training Package entry requirements for this qualification.

**TAFE NSW REQUIREMENTS**

TAFE NSW offers the Certificate III in Hairdressing in a variety of ways so you can style the career you want. Depending on your unique circumstances - and the campus you choose to study at - you will need to provide evidence that you meet any relevant entry criteria:

**Apprenticeship**
- Submit your training plan proposal (TPP) with your application

**Non-apprenticeship**
You will need to be either:

- ***Experienced in salon work***
Over 21 years of age with evidence of current industry experience. Your workplace evidence will be reviewed prior to course entry.

- ***New to hairdressing (commercial)***
You will need to secure work placement (details below) to meet the on-the-job component of your training. It is important to know that there is no government subsidy available for this study option.

**WORK PLACEMENT**

If you are new to hairdressing or require more salon experience, TAFE NSW requires you to complete 252 hours of work placement to get the most out of your study, expand your network and be job-ready.

You will need to arrange work placement with a suitable employer.

If you are unable to secure work placement with an industry partner, you will need to complete 252 hours of salon work in a simulated salon environment and complete a Training Record Book. This will occur at your campus location during normal class times on days nominated by your teaching section.

It is recommended that you start your work placement in consultation with your teacher at the beginning of your course.

The ANP will help you and your employer to complete a Training Contract. Once you have a Training Contract, we will help you, your employer and the ANP to complete a Training Plan Proposal. Once you have both these documents, the ANP will lodge them with State Training Services, who will provide further advice about next steps.
