Description: This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a range of well-developed hospitality service, sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage and gaming.

Possible job titles include:

- food and beverage attendant
- front desk receptionist
- front office assistant

A requirement of this course is to undertake 32 service periods which is facilitated through the Moruya campus restaurant facilities. Other service periods may be undertaken off campus as discussed with the teaching staff. Students will be required to wear black pants or skirt, black apron, black long sleeved shirt, black leather shoes.

This course offering is for learners 18 years of Age and above due to the handling of alcohol in some units. This course is offered for Batemans Bay with partial attendance at Moruya campus. If the Batemans Bay offering attracts low numbers, the course may be fully merged with the Moruya offering.

This course is for those students who are looking at a career in front-of-house positions within the tourism and hospitality industry. Students will learn the skills and knowledge to perform restaurant preparation and service, bar operations, espresso coffee, and customer service. Learners will complete the mandatory units required by Liquor and Gaming NSW if working on licenced prermises including; Provide responsible service of alcohol (RSA) and Provide responsible gambling services (RCG). Learners must be 18 years and over if undertaking units where liquor service is a learning outcome. Learners who are under 18 years of age may complete other suitable units.
