Description: This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a broad range of event-related skills and sound knowledge of event management processes to coordinate event operations. They operate independently and make operational event management decisions.

Events are diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organisations operating in a range of industries, including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural, and community sectors.

The diversity of employers includes event or exhibition management companies, event venues, or organisations that organise their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place, on-site at venues where events are staged or a combination of both.

Possible job titles include:
conference coordinator event or exhibition coordinator event or exhibition planner event sales coordinator function coordinator in-house meetings coordinator meetings coordinator staging coordinator venue coordinator.

About: You will be required to attend additional days for events as deemed by your course requirements. Note: these events may or may not be within TAFE NSW attendance days.

**STUDY COMMITMENT**

This is a full-time face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 21 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 1 year.

You may also be required to complete approximately 13 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study and assignment preparation.

It is anticipated that students will be engaging with the local hospitality and events industry and will be asked to volunteer at local events throughout the Illawarra Region. This will include evening and weekends outside of the programed hours. It is anticipated that students will undertake work placement of up to 80 hours.

This course offering is designed for people who:
- are looking at a career in event planing, coordination and management. Students will learn the skills and knowledge to perform event registrations, organise and coordinate events.

Other service periods may be undertaken off campus as discussed with the teaching staff. Students will be required to wear black pants or skirt, black apron, black long sleeved shirt, black leather shoes.

To gain the most out of this course students will be asked to volunteer and take part in events that will be outside of their timetabled class. There may also be additional work experience/volunteer work required.

If you do apply for a VET Student Loan you will need to have your Tax File Number (TFN) handy. If you do not have a TFN you can apply for one through most Australia Post outlets, and obtain a Certificate of Application for a TFN. Once you receive your TFN from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you must contact your college so they can arrange for you to enter it into your VET Student Loan application.

VET Student Loans are available for this course. The Unit of Study fees below apply if this is not your first qualification. Your actual fee may be less depending on your previous study. We will advise you of any fee reductions you are entitled to before you enrol.

You will be provided with a timetable, assessment guides, advice about additional materials you may need to purchase and information on the support services available to you.

Activate your student portal account which allows you to check your results, see fees and payments, and download your timetable.

To activate your account, go to https://my.tafensw.edu.au and login with your username and password, which was created as part of the online enrolment process and/or included on your receipt. Call us on 131 601 if you need it to be reset.

Once logged in, change your password and create 3 secret questions and answers.

Speak with customer service staff on campus to get your TAFECard which gives you special access to printing, copying and other services.
